Cash and checks do not carry additional or hidden fees with them, whereas our business always pays a fee to process a credit card. Depending on the amount of each credit card purchase, we forfeit 3% to more than 12% of the total sale to credit card processing fees. The same fees apply to not only credit cards, but PayPal, Venmo, ApplePay, and debit cards as well.
Online credit card processing is even more expensive than in-person credit card processing. We always encourage cash or check, but we live in the modern world and understand that people need to pay however works for them.
